Velo and Ray Apartments

Unfortunately this complex has a rampant theft problem. I would stay away from this place if you order packages online for delivery. My last 6 out of 8 packages have been stolen. The rental lockers have been broken into twice, with many items taken across 15+ tenants. If you go into the mail room, you’ll see often packages ripped open and stuff either stolen out of them or discarded (see photos). Management intentionally chooses not to take action, claiming police must respond and request footage for them to review it. This is not a law, but an internal policy that they set themselves. So they could, if they wanted to. To my knowledge there have been no police reports filed (though across tenants I know, there has been over $1000 in lost items from theft), and they tell their tenants that

Shout out to Jimmy and Tomis of maintenance for always fixing my issues fast & professionally. I have had refrigerator and dishwasher issues that were addressed very quickly. Even though it is never a good reason to see these guys (for broken appliances!) it is always a pleasure to have them fix it. Also would like to shout out Kyle and Preston of the management team for helping me address issues and concerns over the past year!

Update: Velo notified everyone the day of that there will be a 2 day water shut off between 9am-5pm, with no prior warning for residents to prepare. --- Update: I notified Velo that the front door of the apartment complex was broken and could be opened by anyone. Something you’d think would be high priority (they asked me to create a work order instead). 4 days go by with no fix and unsurprising to anyone, all packages were stolen from the mail room. No less than 15 boxes. Management here truly does not care. — Over the past year, the quality of Velo has significantly dropped. I would just like to start this review stating that I've never before written a review, that is how strongly I feel negatively and skeptical towards Essex Property Trust / Velo and Ray for how they have handled our move-out statement and security deposit. If you look through the Google reviews, you'll see MANY people have had this experience here as well and had the incorrect charges waived after contesting them with Velo and Ray, all aiding in my belief that they're unjustified/ illegal charges to begin with. Quickly, I'll say the pros of this apartment. The location is great, the unit itself is nice and maintenance is good & nice. Original post on 6/4/24: There is a very loud beep every few seconds in the lobby of Velo that has been going (on and off) for months. Lately it seems to happen every day. We reported this several times to management but they don't seem to care about fixing it. UPDATE (1 month later): The fire panel is STILL beeping. I can hear the alarm from inside my apartment right now. We have received several emails that "we have vendors working on site right now to resolve this situation as soon as possible" yet the alarm still goes off almost every night... with no estimated timeline on when this will be resolved. There is NO management onsite- they clearly don't care or are just inept.
