The Merrick Apartments

I just moved in after a nightmare experience with the last property management company. So far my experience living here compared to the other place is like going from driving a ford to driving a Lamborghini. The people are much friendlier here. The leaaing folks have all been amazing and super nice. I don't plan on going anywhere for a while. If you are thinking about moving here...it was a great move for me. I'd say do it.

I will be starting my 7th year at the Merrick soon. The amenities are terrific and so is the location. A shout-out and kudos to our current staff who have been striving to keep everything neat, clean, and organized. especially Carmen, who has been the Porter here at the Merrick since it opened. She takes care of it as if it was her own home because she understands it’s ours and a shared community. Recent updates on carpeting, painting, and decor are really noticeable. Excellent Northeast side downtown location close to commuting routes. Personally, whenever I’ve needed a repair or new appliance, they are right on it. Thank yous toJorge, Fernando, and Eddie. A mental hospital is right across the street, you're going to need it while living here and reading this review. My neighbor was an active shooter on the run and the property did not inform us what so ever. His name was on the eviction papers and a quick google search revealed this. He was shooting up traffic lights, but still. As a female I got assaulted by someone who lives here. I begged residence to assist me in calling 911, I got ignored "im going to work". The security who showed up were life savers as I was locked out of my apartment not able to escape, they eventually called the police and he got arrested the next day. Management did not care. I also got recorded by someone in the hallway, it was very odd and wish I knew who he was. The 7-11 down the block got shot up while I li

Carmen at the Merrick Apartments on MLK is so amazing! I meet her in passing occasionally as I come and go, and she always takes the time to say hello, ask how things are going with my friend (a tenant at the Merrick for at least 8 or 9 years) and let’s me know she is always willing to check in when I’m not here. I cannot express how much that means to have her support, as my friend continues to walk through his cancer journey with dignity and grace. ♥️🙏🏼 Carmen is such a genuine person and truly has a servant’s heart. As part of the maintenance team, she takes special care to perform her responsibilities with 100% effort, and no matter what she is doing she has a smile on her face and love in her heart. Great location. Great leasing staff. Moved due to a relocation.. Otherwise, I would’ve stayed there. The staff was always quick to fix anything that came up, always accepted responsibility and were accountable. If this neighborhood is one that you’re considering, I’d highly recommend this property.
