I have a non renovated studio apartment. This building is strong and because of its structure gives extreme privacy from sound bleeding from neighboring apartments. Brings me back to living in NY. Authentic radiator heating. It’s a little excessive but if you’ve experienced it before then you know how to adapt. The people that live here are quiet and friendly. I keep my place without clutter and wash my dishes after cooking. No lingering food remains. It’s an old building -so as expected I’ve seen a roach or three, but two of them wont make it back to their family to tell them there is nothing in here to feast on. But I think they get the point. Pros: If you work at Medstar or go to JHU, location is convenient, you can leave 10 minutes before work or class and be there on time. The maintenance team is on the ball with issues being taken care of to the best of their ability. The staff who work the leasing office are, in my experience, excellent and very helpful. Internet is included through xfiniti and it is a pretty solid service. There is a dog park my dog loves, and an Amazon locker that makes collecting packages fairly simple. The garage is indoors and keeps my vehicle away from the elements, and is situated in an area that is hard to find parking, making it very useful. The maintenance team is very prompt. Especially Will has helped me out a bunch. The leasing office is quite helpful as well, Janice is very friendly. Building is old but the efficiency of the maintenance team quite makes up for most of it. Lifts alone are still an issue cause there’s a never a time when all of them work.

The Marylander recently installed FiveAvert shutoff for stoves throughout the community and when mine stopped working recently, Nicole from maintenance provided superior service to troubleshoot and solve the issue. She clearly was well versed in some of the common issues that could come up and worked with me to schedule a date to complete the repair. She arrived at the time we arranged and she completed the project with expert know-how. Thank you, Nicole!

Living at the Marylander Apartments has been a constant hassle. The water shut-offs are completely erratic and often happen without any notice, leaving residents stranded for hours. On top of that, there’s a roach problem that never seems to be addressed properly. The printer in the study room is always broken, which is frustrating when this is listed as an amenity. For the rent we pay, these ongoing issues and lack of communication from management are unacceptable. There's always some issue with the elevator. I would not recommend this place unless serious improvements are made.
