The Lakes Apartments

Apartment is good and the maintenance team is really great. But the management team is extremely disappointing. You have to constantly follow up with them for every thing and they try to charge you extra for every small thing. Forgot to send your updated renters insurance document - no reminders, they just charge $20 a month forever. The rent portal doesn't have history of charges, so you never know what you are being charged for. They send a bonus offer for renewing lease but don't actually apply the bonus when you renew. When you ask about this, they ask you to take the burden of finding the proof of the offer email which was sent 6 months back.

The experience with the management team was extremely disappointing. We toured this community and were given the impression that a townhome would be available for a January 6 move-in. Two weeks later, we were suddenly informed that the unit was not renovated and that move-in would be delayed until mid-February. By then, we had already passed on other housing options in good faith and are now facing serious housing uncertainty. This delay was entirely due to management’s failure to verify unit readiness before committing to a move-in timeline. What’s worse, management offered no meaningful solutions, and then increased the rent by over $300 despite the situation being their responsibility. Lakes community is an extremely beautiful, well kept and peaceful community. Though I lived in the North block, both blocks was so beautiful that I felt like I was at a resort (surrounded by beautiful lakes) and at the same time conveniently located nearer to key places like groceries, shops & Microsoft offices. The leasing office staff (Connie, Jonas & all others) are extremely accommodating and friendly also. Maintenance team (Ben & others) is awesome & very prompt in attending the maintenance needs & helpful. Lakes has a lot of amenities to enjoy – gym is very nice, clean & has a lot of equipment, swimming pool, business center with a printer and cabana, movie room. Noise Problems Ignored: My unit constantly had loud squeaking and thumping from above, especially at night. I complained multiple times, but nothing was ever done. Zero concern for tenant comfort. Freezing Cold Apartment: No matter what I did, the place stayed uncomfortably cold. Management had no real solutions apart from asking me to put curtains Deposit Nightmare: After moving out, I still haven’t received my refund. I’ve followed up several times and now they don’t even bother answering calls. Completely unprofessional and feels like they’re just avoiding paying back what they legally owe.

Having bounced around apartments in the past, I’ve really appreciated the friendly staff and their responsiveness to maintenance requests. While I wasn’t as attached to the lower floor apartments, the upper floor ones are spacious, bright, and many of them overlook a quiet part of the artificial lake and canal system that runs through the complex. Covered parking was included in my rent, and although rents are not cheap, they seem to be on par with the surrounding communities when I was looking around.
