The Hudson

I have been living at the Hudson for almost 7 months and it has been great. The property manager Ross is the absolute best and so helpful if there are any issues. The apartments are spacious with brand new appliances. The kitchen is huge with tons of cabinet space. One of my favorite things about the building is the storage closets you can rent. I have so much outdoor gear that no longer has to live in my apartment! Huge windowsills, which my cats love : ).

We moved here with a different management company in 2022, which was amazing. The new company has been a pain to deal with. They do not offer any lease breakage, ZERO amenities (1 dog poop station that gets emptied about every 2 weeks), you pay for trash and literally can only use right after the pick up dates *see picture-this is from a good weekend*, you can hear between the walls, upstairs neighbors, and conversations in the hallways. The doors do not close automatically (I’ve caught kids running through the halls that I know do not live here), sketchy people walk by all the time, there’s no gym for residents, AND you have to pay to make an account to use the package locker. It’s a nice and completely new apartment. We live in 1b1b on top floor with big windows and great view of trees and mountains. Hudson has a good location, close to groceries, Rivanna River, Darden park and Pantops shopping center. The only thing I less appreciate is the limited parking space. Generally, it’s happy to live here, and Ross (the manager) is super cool and nice!

This place is no good for a number of reasons. Their resident portal is poorly designed but this is only top of the iceberg. NOISE lvl: The building itself is located near the tractor repair shop and all you would hear would be Constant trucks revving their engines outside. The apartment itself is beautiful, but the amount of money you gonna pay would be comparable to DC. The neighborhood is full or auto-repair shops and services so cars cars cars revving every day starting 7am. Also the 250s Richmond road is nearby so amount of traffic is huge. Would Not Recommend. Too loud for me, comparable to living downtown but is in the middle of nowhere. Rivanna trail is the only decent walkable direction

While no apartment will ever be 100% perfect, there are many things about the Hudson that make apartment living not so bad. If you’re looking to live in Charlottesville, but away from the UVA crowd and prices, this is the place to go. It’s a cute and brand new building that is extremely spacious and convenient to get to from main roads. All the things you need within a 10 minute drive and even a soft serve stand right next door. Ross, the building manager, is one of the kindest and most helpful people I’ve ever dealt with when it comes to leasing. He has helped me with any and every issue I’ve come to him with, and I truly would stay at this apartment in the future solely because of him. Great place to live, would definitely recommend!
