Sydnor Flats

I am hoping that my review will call attention both to Pierce Arrow/Sydnor Flats and to the prospective tenants of this building. I have filed multiple complaints and maintenance requests to no avail. My AC has been out for over two weeks in the hottest weather of the year. I filed my initial complaint over two weeks ago, and after my building experienced another one of our mid-summer “scheduled” A/C outages on the 18th of this month - my maintenance request was marked as fulfilled (or that my AC was fixed and back on)... it was not so I filed another request. Almost a week ago I received a temporary window AC unit with the promise of another maintenance employee to come within the next 2 days to fix my central AC. No one has come since. You're probably interested in this apartment complex because the rent is much cheaper than other places in the area. This apartment is a good deal, but like all things, you get what you pay for! On the bright side, the apartment units (at least mine) is VERY spacious, high ceilings- you can't get any better for the price. The building is older, but mostly well maintained. Appliances aren't updated, but there is a garbage disposal and dishwasher which is awesome. There's also laundry machines and trash chutes on every floor. We've never seen roaches or any bugs in the unit. The leasing office is generally helpful. Maintenance takes a while to get to things, but they always do a good job fixing things, and will come soon if it's urgent. One other thing to note, is that the living rooms in

Loved living here! The leasing office was always helpful, quick to respond, and very friendly. I never had problems with my neighbors in terms of noise or anything. My apartment was absolutely gorgeous with huge windows, high ceilings, and beautiful hardwood floors. I also appreciated only having to pay $50 a month for internet! I lived in Sydnor Flats over the summer, and the actual apartment was not terrible. There were no hobos in the stairways or cockroaches, however, you can likely find somewhere nicer with better management for the same price - and I would advise to do so. The management was absolutely awful. The best way to get a response from anyone who works in the leasing office is to drive there and ask in person because it is very unlikely that they will answer your phone call or respond to your email. Aside from the lack of responsiveness, they also do not take the concerns of their tenants very seriously. We had a leaking sink, and maintenance did not come for over a week. You are not given any information as to when they will come, so you are left wondering how much longer you will be stuck in that

Sydnor Flats is not a safe place to live. Since the start of my lease last July I have seen my apartment flood, homeless people sneak into the lobby and sleep there overnight, and neighbors that are allowed to blast music at all hours of the day and night with no consequences. If you can afford it, live somewhere else. Even the “cheaper” rent is not worth the stress, headache and danger that is this apartment building.
