Summerchase Apartments

My experience at summer chase was absolutely horrific. I have pictures of the mold (that they spray painted over). Infested with bed bugs. Carla doesn’t care about anyone well being as long as she gets the rent money. I would suggest if you’re looking for somewhere to go, don’t go here. People have gotten sick from the mold. It’s also Rat infested place. Worst landlord ever. I will post pictures as soon as get them off my old phone. If I could give zero stars I would. Whatever bad stuff you hear about this place, believe it. She’s the absolute most horrible woman and landlord.

I have lived here for over 20 years first with my mom then with my grandma and now with my wife. very friendly landlord in the office and the new owner is very nice too and more than willing to fix issues or listen to any concerns about the property. Recently my wife was convinced there was a crack in our ceiling. He came in and looked at it and told us it was a simple fix and fixed it promptly. In my years here I have lived in a 3 bedroom, 2 bedroom, and now a 1 bedroom. All the apartments are spacious and comfortable to live in. There is plenty close by to go do or even for work if you don't drive. Personally my wife and I enjoy the swings when our girls are down or our nephew wants to go out and play.

I came to Van Buren with nothing but a backpack back in July 2022. I got an application and Carla was very good about explaining the process plus what all documents I needed. I've been living here ever since even finding work close by. One thing I love about the location is easy access to places like Dollar General and Price Cutters as I am on foot most of the time. My apartment was very clean when I moved in. I was so excited to see a new stove and fridge because I have never had anything brand new. I was shocked at how roomy the one bedroom was. Theres a closet that my niece swears could be another room🤣😂. Zach the owner is very easy to talk to and listens to any concerns. I had a problem with my baseboards in the kitchen and he came in with a worker and fixed it promptly.

I've been here for three years and have found management and maintenance to be helpful and sometimes tough but fair. These are low-income apartments not five star rentals so you are going to have issues, but they do what they can. Management has rules and guidelines to follow just like the tenants, and if they weren't following them they wouldn't still have their jobs. Fyi I believe Carla has been here over 15 years or so, she couldn't still be running the show if she were actually stealing or if she tried to be everyone's friend.

If you are looking for a low income based apt or need assistance DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT COME HERE. Go somewhere else go to hud or housing authority try all your options before coming here it’d probably be cheaper anywhere else she over charges rent and this was my first place and I didn’t know how rent was supposed to be payed our security deposit was 600$ for a 300$ rent price. I asked why so high and she said it was because “before we rally in your low income rates these apartments are actually 400-500$ a peice. We got the 3 bed because she said it was cheaper. AND she let us pay in CASH I just found out your not allowed to do that!!!! Also, we got a utility allowance that she never told us about until one day I called the electric company to find out the bill amount and they said “you g
