Customer Reviews
As a first-time homebuyer, I was initially excited about purchasing my home. However, after two years of homeownership, I’ve come to regret choosing Starlight. The community was advertised as a “gated community,” yet it is not fully enclosed. The unfinished back gate, located near a main road, highway, and two gas stations, provides open access to the neighborhood. This has resulted in an increase in foot traffic from individuals who do not reside in the community, raising serious safety and security concerns. When I brought this issue to the attention of the HOA, I was informed that the back gate was designed for aesthetic purposes rather than safety—an explanation that I find disappointing and misleading based on how the community was marketed.
We bought a new home from Starlight in Zebulon, NC last year. We were not in the area yet and made the mistake of trusting our real estate agent to find us a house. That was a big mistake. Our fault. However, when we got to our new $350,000 "home" it was extremely disappointing, here's why: * The only window facing the street was a small window in the laundry room - it had a nice vertical blind. That was the ONLY window in the house that had a blind. We had to spend almost $800 to put blinds throughout the rest of the house. *The house had NO hardware anywhere - no towel holders or toilet paper holders in the bathrooms, no handles on cabinets, no drawer pulls, nothing! *The cheap quality of the facets ), the shower enclosure, etc. was embarrassing. *The garage did not have a garage
As a potential home owner for a Starlight home, I'm very disappointed in the experience. Looking for a home I was approved from my own Lender. As most new build communities, Starlight encouraged me to go with their Lender for a lower interest rate and Closing cost to be covered by them. Going against my initial conviction of having my credit being pulled again I decided to give it a try. Bec this was my 1st home purchase I found it odd that $2500 earnest money was needed prior to being approved. 3 days later I wasn't approved by their lender. I requested my earnest money to be returned back to me. Now mind you, I submitted my earnest money ACH electronically. I was told that the process was different returning the earnest money. It's always an concern when money in the form of a check is p
Buyers beware!! Starlight customer service could definitely use some improvement. It seems as though some residents are able to have Starlight go above and beyond for their warranty claims and others, like myself, have struggled. I suggest homebuyers to look elsewhere if they are wanting a home with quality materials and for a company to stand behind their work and workmanship. Starlight never caulked my back door which has now lead to mold damage. They are not accepting responsibility and are acting like due to my house being west facing that it was the cause. They are claiming the rain and sun are the cause to the damage. Mind you, they never sent anyone out to look at the damage and are only saying this based on photos. Luckily for me I know my neighbors and they are not having these sa
Where do I even begin? This was my first experience purchasing a house and unfortunately it had to be with Starlight. Had I read the interviews prior to purchasing, I would NOT have purchased a home from Starlight. I do have to say too, that the reviews 100% line up with the quality of customer service, home quality, and processing procedures in general. I have NEVER experienced such a terrible team, sales people, and field managers. Samuel McCrary was our sales person and did an exceptional job in terms of customer service but missed the mark on many different aspects of the process. He only showed us 2 of 7+ properties that were available, so we were forced to choose from 2 properties. He almost never responded to email, texts, and phone calls about pressing issues.
