Solaire 1150 Ripley

My husband and I have lived at Solaire for seven years. We really enjoy our spacious two bedroom two bath apartment. Management is responsive. A couple of years ago there was an issue with water pressure and Omari the maintenance supervisor worked diligently and solved the issue. The concierges are very helpful. The public areas of the building are kept clean. We have used the party room several times and our guests are always complimentary about the area.

Solaire has been home to me for several years, and I truly appreciate the convenience of the location. The concierge team (Rhonda, Cierra, and Aham), the maintenance staff, and the team that keep the common areas spotless are all exceptional and genuinely make the community enjoyable! Unfortunately, my experience with the current Community Manager, Nicole C., and the Assistant Property Manager has been disappointing. Their professionalism and demeanor have been underwhelming and, at times, rude. Other recent reviews regarding the Community Manager at both Solaire 1150 (as of September) and Solaire 8200 (for at least one year) reflect similar concerns, which clearly shows this experience isn’t unique. Seeing other comments here confirming this makes me want to share my experience as well. The sink water really does smell and taste bad. All the time. The first time I used the ice maker in the freezer, the cubes were brown. You can actually smell it by just leaning over the bathroom sink while brushing teeth. I use a Brita filter for drinking but brushing teeth, making ice, showering, using the dish washer and washing machine are all problematic. The freight train horns starting at 5:30am everyday have also greatly affected my sleep (for the worse). The sound is absolutely piercing. The metro train noise and construction are fine, unless your window is open. This makes the balcony almost unusable. There is also an alarm at the front door that has been ringing for at least the last year.

I lived at Solaire 1150 Ripley for four years, and my experience was excellent from the start. The building is well-maintained, modern, and always kept clean, with amenities that make daily life more comfortable. The location is unbeatable—right in downtown Silver Spring, close to restaurants, shops, the Metro, and everything else you might need. The management and staff were always responsive, professional, and friendly. Any maintenance requests were handled quickly and efficiently, which gave me real peace of mind as a long-term resident.

I am a new resident and have absolutely zero complaints so far! I was afraid of getting "catfished" as almost all apartment sites take nice photos, but few are accurate. Solaire Silver Spring looks as nice as it does online, and we feel as though our apartment is even better than advertised. It was a struggle snatching up one of the few available 2bedx2bath balcony units (which just means it's a popular place), but we were adamant about living here and are thoroughly pleased with our decision. There's a really nice blended community here- age, race, lifestyle- that makes me like this complex even more.
