Shawomet Gardens

Shawomet Gardens is advertised as a “quaint” “cozy” “charming” community, but it is nothing of the sort. I lived at Shawomet Gardens for 1 year. (I will refer to it as “SG” for the rest of this review) Pros: Pet friendly. Apartments come with dishwasher. The maintenance staff were all friendly. The surrounding area OUTSIDE of SG is a nice environment. The tenant online portal made it easy to submit maintenance requests and pay rent. Cons: Noise level from neighbors inside the building and outside in the communal areas of SG. Neighbors would blast music so loud our curtains would shake. Walls are so thin you are awoken in the middle of the night by your neighbors coughing. Theres hardly any street parking, tons of handicapped only parking, some of Buxton Ave has no parking allowed at all.

Too bad I can't give a 0 star. Office staff was unorganized and the office was a mess. The apartment wasn't too bad, but very outdated and tiny for the price. The whole complex looks old, and the roads are ridiculously terrible. So unless you have a truck, you better have a good mechanic, and even if you have a truck. The application fee was $45 and non-refundable of course, but what they DON'T tell you is the aren't planning on calling you back, answering the office phone, or returning your text. They will however lie straight to your face. The place is a dump, and the office staff are the trash.

Office is terrible don’t waste your money here, you can only park on main road if they forget to give you a parking sticker or else you’ll pay a tow fee of $226. Not just that, they only notify you on things they’re legally supposed to. If it’s convenient for us residents but they don’t have to share, they won’t! I’ve lived here for 11 months never had my car towed. All of a sudden they’re super strict on it & don’t even notify anyone. Horrible.

Lovely quiet community tucked away in Somerset. Neighbors are friendly and welcoming. New owners have done a lot of upgrades to the community and apartments, much needed. Office staff are very professional and helpful, and maintenance always makes sure my work orders are finished within 1-2 days. Emergency maintenance responds to my voicemails very quickly. I love that I can use my online portal for maintenance work orders and to pay my rent etc. It's pet friendly here which we love. Also, great schools in the area if you have children! Just an overall wonderful place and area to live. We've loved living here and plan to for years to come.

This place has been livable up until new management arrived. Not only did they increase my rent by $300/mo with 2 months notice, but they are constantly performing maintenance without any notifications. My hot water was turned off and resulted in dirty brown water all day. I was unable to flush the toilet nor take a shower for 2 days. (They never returned my call about this) They are also constantly complaining about trash, stating how they refuse to get rid of anything large and it's our responsibility. There isn't even recycling. Actively looking for a new place to live but hoping to prevent others from moving in at these exclusively high rental rates. Their office is also rarely open and they do not respond to calls.. even their emergency maintenance number results in voicemail. Parking
