Despite having a strong credit score, steady income, and being fully qualified, I was treated unfairly because I am a woman and a single mother. Yohan asked me who would be taking care of my children while I was at work, which is not only inappropriate but completely irrelevant to my ability to rent a home. What was even more upsetting was that he suggested my ex, who is not involved in the process, should be added to the lease simply because he is a man. This kind of biased thinking is unacceptable. Long story short, I inquired about a home and met all of the qualifications, good credit, no evictions or broken leases, and made more than quadruple times the rent since I own not one but two successful businesses. Agent gave the run around for two weeks after asking for additional information and my 2020 tax return which I provided, only to tell my realtor that the landlord decided to go with another applicant. Guess what? The house is still on the market today. In fact, I had more than one person call and ask about the house and they were all recently told that it was still available for rent. I recently went and viewed property with Ritu A. I met all the credentials for the property until, I was asked why I don’t have a drivers license, mind you I have my Tx ID and SS card and I told them I don’t drive. The owners were worried how would I get around. That shouldn’t matter how I get around as long as I qualify for the house. Then, Ritu A. and the owners asked me do I have a passport.
