Moss and Timber is not just a store. Moss and Timber is an experience. After spending my life walking the ascetic, perfunctory plant aisles of characterless stores (I'm looking at you, Home Depot), walking into a store where plants aren’t a side dish but the main course is both delightful and refreshing. When I explored this store I quickly realized what I was missing by shopping for plants in stores driven purely by profit and loss statements rather than a passion for plants. But the value of this store isn’t just the selection of plants (which, as an aside, is both delightful and fascinating). No, the value extends to the main proprietor himself. I had such a wonderful experience here! The owner was kind and knowledgeable and answered my many many questions with patience and insight. The shop is so beautiful and I could have spent all day in there! Once I finally made my plant & pot selections he offered to repot them for me and did so so beautifully!! I’m equal parts sad and (financially) glad I live three hours away from this little slice of heaven! Haha! If you have the chance, stop in for sure!

I visited Moss & Timber last weekend with my mom and was initially impressed — the shop layout was modern, the plant selection was great, and they had some beautiful Tradescantia zebrina (also known as zebra plants). Unfortunately, any positive impression disappeared as soon as we spoke to the bald employee with tattoos. My mom asked a simple, friendly question about the different colors of their Tradescantia. His response was abrupt and dismissive — he claimed he had “never heard of them called zebra plants” and insisted they “always look like that.” Not only is that factually incorrect (these plants have multiple common names and variegations), but the tone was rude and unprofessional. This is the kind of interaction that turns a good small business into one I would never support again

really cool store. ive bought 2 plants and one does really good even when i forget to water it (staghorn fern) and the other lasted 5 months but was covered with mealy bugs no matter how often i cleaned them oft. it died a while ago. idk if it was anything in my room or came home from the store because ive got a bunch of other plants (1 is the same but big and another is really similar) that dont have the bugs. can't remember what it was called tho. some sort of philodendron or elephant ear. the owner also gave me an asparagus fern that was sort of dying. really cool place and the owners are super chill
