Monroe Park Towers

I am so truly thankful, grateful to live at Monroe Park Towers! It is my home. I have lived here for 5 years. Has it all been wonderful? I have had my times when it was stressful BUT it wasn’t the Management’s fault. The location is prime. I love having the ability to walk out of the building and be able to access stores, eating establishments, etc. The ability to go to the Park, to catch a Bus to anywhere or to just walk. Management is awesome in my opinion. Whenever I was in need of their help, they were always ready to help me and the situation was successfully completed. Sarah is the epitome of Efficiency. Super not Satisfied. From the beginning I wasn’t able to receive my move in date due to carpet removal and new carpet which is cool. However when I finally moved in the apartment didn’t seem in bad condition come to find a couple things definitely need to be replaced fully. This is crazy they ask for so much money down front, but repairs still need to be done. I reached out to a fellow maintenance person on site and he said maintenance is not required or can’t help with what I need done to my apartment. I’ve turned in my renters checklist and still nothing. The kitchen cabinets seem rotted or molding, baseboards around whole apartment need to be done, stained tile and today my water cut off for no reason. Been using my own water bottles to make things happen.

I won’t lie and say that this is the nicest apartment building in Richmond. But if you’re a VCU student, this is a really nice location, and it’s affordable. Utilities are included and they also have garage parking with a guaranteed spot. There’s also guest parking in their private parking lot which is a plus. Ever since Sarah became manager, there’s been many improvements. Maintenance is also very sweet and helpful. The jury’s out on the roaches, but you’ll probably only get them if you have gross neighbors (or if you’re gross). But they offer free pest control, and the office gives out traps when needed. There’s a lot of reviews about the AC but to be fair, they can’t do much about the AC considering this is an old building, and they can’t change the system. Just open a window when it’s

Absolutely insane roach infestation. I killed probably 30 roaches everyday (I wish I was exaggerating), they were nesting under the carpets, behind the fridge, stove, inside the walls, everywhere. I’d catch them crawling up my legs at times too. I attempted to end my lease over this but was not able to. When I moved out I had to throw away a lot of stuff and only keep necessities… I still ended up bringing the roaches to my next place but was fortunately able to get rid of them. No matter how clean you are you can’t get rid of them because they are probably living in your walls and traveling from apartment to apartment searching for food and hiding spots. Also my bathroom flooded multiple times from water raining down from the ceiling and they won’t fix issues on the weekend. The stairw

I strongly recommend avoiding this place. The building is very old, and roaches are plentiful; I kill at least a few every day. Management is extremely unhelpful, claiming that they have no responsibility because they sent pest control, which in six months never actually seems to help matters. The place is constantly breaking down; one of the elevators is almost always out. All this would be fine if the rent weren't almost $1,600 for a single bedroom. No one should be living here.
