Michigan Rental will likely respond to this review claiming they handled the situation “properly and in a timely manner.” The timeline speaks for itself. • December 18, 2025: Water began leaking from my ceiling, closet, door frame, and ceiling fan (an electrical fixture). • I was told the issue was resolved approximately two weeks later. • February 17, 2026: The door frame began leaking again. • February 18, 2026: The ceiling fan began leaking again. • February 20, 2026: Active leaking from the ceiling fan continued. Four maintenance issues in three months for the same roof leak is not a proper or permanent repair. This was not minor staining — this was active water intrusion. This rental company is attempting to withhold over $3,000 from the security deposit. Fortunately, we have photos, video recordings of the move-in condition, and emails noting damages at the start of the lease. Their actions appear fraudulent, and we may have to pursue the matter in small claims court. If you rent from them, protect yourself: Take detailed photos and videos at move-in and move-out. Document everything in writing. Keep copies of all correspondence. If possible, go elsewhere.
