M/I Homes Orchard Park

We were very nervous going into our first new custom home but we had a great experience from start to finish. Mike was very knowledgeable and did not pressure us into anything we weren’t comfortable with and respected our budget. Sylvia in the Design Center was very helpful as well. Thomas has been great and always makes himself available if we have questions. The finance department went above and beyond for us when we had closing delays. The Customer Care Center responds to our work orders quickly and we typically have the issue resolved in a week. We have had people over to visit who have built with a different builder and they have said they are very impressed with the quality of work done. I will preface this review with the fact that our home here in Orchard Park was the first “new build” experience for us, so in many respects we didn’t know what to expect. I have to say, however, that the process was communicated and orchestrated in a timely fashion from beginning to end. We felt we were in knowledgeable and capable hands after our initial meetings with Mike R. His no pressure demeanor was appreciated as he helped us choose from the many lots and floor plans that were available at the time and continued to offer suggestions after listening and learning from us what we were looking for in a new home. I spent a lot of time researching different builders and developments in the area and M/I Homes and Orchard Park checked all the right boxes for my wife and I. The building plans available for the Villa homes are well thought out and have plenty of options available to customize the houses to fit almost anyones needs. It was over 30 years since my last new house was built and I was very impressed with the materials and workmanship during all stages of our new home being built. I will start this review by saying that I absolutely love my house. When my husband and I started looking to buy a home, we went to many different builders model homes and talked with many different home consultants, M/I homes had the best quality by far, and they were also the nicest to us. Mike and Thomas were always very nice, respectful, and professional. Managing multiple crews of men can be a daunting task, but they overall did very well. My husband and I are first time home buyers, so there was a lot we didn't know. Management however, kindly and patiently explained everything to us thoroughly so we were in the know of everything. We were sold the wrong lot as it was marked wrong by the builders team. They never even apologized and only offered to switch our lot at no charge. When we said we wanted to back out they threatened to keep our money even though they misrepresented the product they sold us.
