Meetinghouse

This is a well managed, very clean, great place to live. We were there for 8 months. If our needs hadn’t changed, we would have stayed. I really like that all of our needs and concerns were promptly handled. Did I mention….quiet…..

This complex is currently in a very bitter spat with the POST Office of all things. Apparently they built their mail room using sub-par materials (chinesium made probably), and the mail carrier has stopped delivering mail to many units. I heard from a tenant who talked to a maintenance guy employed there that the cost to repair this is $70K, and the apartment complex refuses to do this. So everyone just got a letter the other day that the post office has issued an ultimatum- the complex fixes this issue, or, by the December deadline, they will return to sender ALL mail to this complex. I have never heard of something so silly to fight over, but it WILL result in lawsuits from tenants if the complex manager (who is new) doesn't rectify this. I did not end up choosing this apartment but I had a very nice tour and they were professional throughout my tour. However afterwards they never followed back up on my emails which I found odd. Ultimately I found a better fit but better communication could have led to a different outcome.

Visited a friend of mine that lives in SE Portland in the Meetinghouse apartments. The fire pit in the courtyard is amazing. Also, we were able to take his dog down to Sellwood Waterfront Park and play in the river. We then hit a few really cool bars in the area and on the ground floor we hit up Hollar which was great because it allowed us to easily stumble upstairs after a few too many beers. I have to say, if I were to rent an apartment in SE Portland, I'd definitely check to see if Meetinghouse had any 1-bedroom apartments.

Safe, clean, well-managed, and in a great location. We lived here for a year, and moved out of state, otherwise would have tried to stay forever! It is walking distance from a grocery store, coffee shop, restaurant, bar, and the max/bus station. Yes, it is a little expensive, but so worth it in my opinion. Sellwood is such a gem. <3
