I lived in a One Bedroom at East Village Apartments in Hampstead for two years, and overall, it was a great place for what I needed. The apartment affordable and was perfect for one person, even a couple. The complex was quiet, which I really appreciated. While they have a lot of rules, they’re not overly strict about enforcing every single one. I’m giving 4 stars because the apartments are pretty outdated, and my rent increased twice during my stay. It took me over a year to get a storage unit after putting in an application. And also learned that you don’t need to be a resident to have a storage unit there, Which was odd to me there’s not a lot of units. I never had an issue in all of the years I had leased an apartment from them..... except I thought it unfair a bit I got charged for a few bleached spots on an old rug they were in the process of replacing anyways or so it very much seemed at the time. This was over 10 years ago. It wasn't perfect but for a bit of time, it was like home to me.

Upon moving in in June 2019, I received a letter 9 months later that my rent would be going up if I don't move out and continue for another year. THIS WAS DURING COVID!!! They gave everyone $50 off rent for 1 month when Covid started. Seriously, they couldn’t manage 100.00 or even a month free like many other facilities. Now going on my 3rd yr here and just got another letter that it's going up again in my third year. This was NEVER mentioned in the lease. They have a great front porch on each unit and after a year of having a beautiful patio set on it, they sent a note saying ABSOLUTELY NOTHING is aloud on the front deck. Their apartments seemed decent enough. Obvious shortcuts were taken in the apartments and they weren't in perfect shape when we moved in. The tenants before us mounted their tv on the wall and it was clear the holes made were patched quickly and cheaply. You could see the outlines of the holes. I tried to cover it up by hanging a picture but thebpqtch job in the wall caved in. We reported it to the office but no one came to fix it. We lived there for over 2 years without too many issues.
