John Alden Apartments

I toured this building last week with Anastasia, the property manager. What a professional! The reviews seem to be old before management was changed, seems like the new property manager is well trained. If you are looking for an apartment with a lower budget in First Hill - John Alden apartments is the way to go. Anastasia knew the history of the building and the significance of the architectural elements in the building.

AVOID by all means or be prepared to lose your security deposit and any excessive rent they ask you to pay. We moved out five months ago and never received or heard anything from the management. The apartment itself is also filthy and there are dog urine and smoke at the entrance all the time.

I'd say look elsewhere... the landlord responds very rarely, even for time sensitive topics. The building is infested with roaches and they aren't making any real attempts to fix the issue. Since the kitchen cabinets all have holes behind them, they become a massive problem for most residents. They don't fix things appropriately, they "fix" them with cheap materials. They only just now attempted to fix a plumbing issue and only once it started to leak brown goo into the main hallway where potential residents would see. If you have to rent here, I'd pay 750 tops.

Rented a unit here on a month to month lease. Great location. Property manager, Chelsea, was quick to respond to any issues or questions. Rent was about average for the area. Would definitely recommend.
