What a great experience we had using Awl Carpentry for the addition on our house. Right from our initial meeting with Jim Kenneway we felt comfortable and knew he was the contractor we wanted to work with. His prices were fair, the budget was broken out in great detail, and he stuck to it without any surprises. Our project consisted of a second story addition to a ranch house that created a brand new Master Bedroom Suite complete with walk in closet and bathroom. We also remodeled our existing bathroom, converted a closet to a laundry/mudroom, converted an old bedroom into an office, remodeled our existing family room, upgraded our electrical service and added central A/C, and replaced our siding and gutters. Amazing team to work with! Our basement was already finished but was totally empty. We wanted to add an entertainment center, wet bar, and a wine storage area. From our first meeting with Jim we knew we wanted to work with him and are so thankful we did. Communication and transparency are super important to us, and Emily goes above and beyond. The Friday updates (every Friday without fail) are a great way of keeping up with progress and serve as a great reminder of to-do’s on your end. She juggles everyone involved incredibly and keeps you in the know always so that there are no surprises. The entire team was incredibly friendly, trustworthy with our home, and Mark (Griff) in particular could not have been a nicer, more thoughtful project manager/foreman to work with. AWL was amazing from start to finish. We had 2 bathrooms renovated with AWL, the crew was professional and great to work with, Jim and Emily were organized and on top of everything at every turn. We couldn't be happier with how our bathrooms turned out and will be reaching out to AWL for all other home projects!

Jim just finished our two additions. A mudroom with a custom bench and laundry and our master bedroom on the first floor. We are very pleased with how everything came out. We started right after Christmas and pretty much stayed on time and on budget through March. We added some custom work near the end, so it stretched our original time line slightly. Jim and his crew were great to work with, thorough, competent, and a pleasure to have around. Anything not in the original scope was discussed and priced before being done, so there there no costly surprises or disagreements.

We worked with Awl to finish our basement and add a covering to our back porch. They helped us with a playroom, powder room, living space, and gym. Everyone on Jim’s team (and all of the subcontractors) were such a pleasure to work with. They were knowledgeable, skilled, and great problem solvers. We will definitely be using them again if we need more work done on our house. Can’t recommend them enough!!
