If you are relocating to Newport - especially on military, government, or professional assignment, such as attending the Naval War College - think twice before renting through Island Realty. I leased a home through Island Realty and feel it’s important to share my experience so others can make informed decisions. While individual staff were polite and responsive when contacted, the company’s broader process revealed serious lapses in oversight, tenant care, and due diligence. Upon move-in, we discovered multiple significant issues that were not disclosed and were inconsistent with the condition portrayed in the listing photos. These included: – Expired smoke/carbon monoxide detectors, despite the use of an oil-burning furnace – A rotting, partially unstable deck that posed a fall hazard

We found Nathaniel to be tardy in his communication from the beginning of the rental inquiry all the way to getting our security deposit check returned. When we arrived to Jamestown, there was no package ready and the worker in the office had to search for the keys to our rental house. Although the rental house was clean and cheerful it was falsely advertised as having air conditioning (the air conditioning was available only in the bedrooms). The rest of the house was over 80 degrees and very uncomfortable.
