I lived here for a year before moving out few months back. I chose this place because it was very close to my work. When I moved in, the apartment had not been set up for a new tenant although they knew that I was coming a month in advance. Thereafter, it was a series a repair requests from my side. I should add here that the repair requests were mostly dealt within a reasonable time-hence the two stars. The last straw was a cockroach issue that I decided not to even bring up. When I finally decided to move out after a year, they charged me $550 for paint peeling of the bathtub. The bathtub had been painted over to make it appear clean! They also charged me $350 for "changing the carpet" when they say they had changed it before I moved in or provide proof that there was damage. I am still

I am leaving this review to document my experience with post move-out billing and communication. After vacating my apartment with proper notice on a month-to-month tenancy, unexplained charges appeared on my account, including a buy-out fee in the range of thousands of dollars. Multiple written inquiries initially went unanswered. After formal escalation, management indicated that the charge was due to a system error and is in the process of being corrected. As of now, I am still awaiting a corrected final statement and the return of my security deposit. If you encounter similar unexplained charges or delayed responses, I recommend keeping all communication in writing and, if needed, filing a formal complaint with the North Carolina Department of Justice Consumer Protection Division so

**edit** Aug 2022 After changing management/owners several times it is terrible. I have since moved, best thing I ever did. The other recent (negative) reviews are true and factual. The new owners, from NJ, have no clue about the local market. The rent for my place went from 1k to $1800. They are trying to compete with new builds down the street. One of the former managers told me they don't want to focus on students anymore. Original post I have lived at University Apartments for going on 4 years now. I love living here. Yes there have been issues in the past with getting maintenance done and things fixed. There have been issues with management and poor communication. However I am confident that this is all in the past. The new manager has been on the ball. They hired new maintenance fol

Today is January 25, 7 months later an still problems with heat an air system. Dang, I wouldn’t recommend anyone to move here. Staff is very forgetful when it comes to putting a work orders company has vendors that aren’t coming out. I heard ice is in town. Lotta companies don’t wanna come out which I was wondering what did I have to do with this complex and then finding vendors to take care of problems Corporate office doesn’t return phone calls when you have issues leasing staff will lie right to your face. they send threatening emails. I will not re-sign my lease.

I can’t say enough great things about Samantha, the manager at Icon From day one, she has been nothing short of amazing. Samantha is incredibly professional, responsive, and genuinely cares about the residents. Whether it’s a maintenance issue, a question about the lease, or just a friendly chat in the office, she handles everything with efficiency and a warm, welcoming attitude. What really stands out about Samantha is her attention to detail and follow-through. If she says something will get done, you can trust that it will—and usually faster than expected. She also goes out of her way to make the community feel like home, organizing resident events and keeping the property clean, safe, and running smoothly. Living here has been a great experience largely because of her leadership. If
