HOHM Highlandtown Apartments

Hohm is beautiful and has potential to be a great apartment building. I have had great experiences with many staff members as well as maintenance staff who are happy to help. My main issues with this apartment building are the break-ins on the street and no alternative parking, and the cameras that never work and are not accessible or conveniently aren’t able to see when theft events occur. The leasing agent Mariah also never knows what she’s talking about. She said I have to pay for a parking pass, which was not true according to the regional property manager. She also said I just have to give them my guest’s information and they can park in the reserved parking spots, but regional management says there is a guest pass and it is $5 a day. Dear Manager of HOHM: I wanted to post a "Positive Review" on Ms. Mariah Payne. I have interacted with Ms. Payne on several occasions and most recently a week or so ago when I needed a lock change in my apartment. Ms. Payne was always very courteous, attentive to my needs as a tenant and very professional on her attitude in serving others! I lived at HOHM Apartments fora little over two years and initially renewed my lease because of the location, security, and amenities. Unfortunately, my experience over the past year has declined significantly. There were repeated issues with maintenance follow-through, billing accuracy, and communication from property management. Several concerns were dismissed or required multiple escalations, and interactions with staff at times felt unprofessional and uncomfortable. While the building has potential, prospective tenants should document everything and be prepared to advocate for themselves.

We were so impressed by the apartment complex prior to signing the lease and that great impression has been confirmed over the last few weeks. Lauren, the property manager, was so patient and professional, helping us to navigate a few, complicating issues on our side during the leasing process. She really went out of her way to make sure that we were happy with the apartment. She walked us around not only to tour the apartments beforehand but also during move-in to be sure we had access to everything. The apartment looked looked almost new at move-in, and common areas are well-maintained. The building and parking are very secure, and neighbors have been friendly. The surrounding area is nice too with a cool bakery (Ovenbird), market, pharmacy and plenty of restaurants.

Nice apartments, but I hope you never intend on moving out. I moved out of unit 207 in November and they're still trying to charge me rent and won't respond to my emails. I guess make sure you have an attorney ready if you plan to live here?
