We had such a great experience renting from HJL for 2 years in Donelson. They are a family run company, and in a world of crappy landlords and money hungry developers, HJL absolutely found the balance between being good humans and running a solid business, while maintaining the charm and community of Donelson. We had a few regular maintenance issues as with any house, and they were always quick to respond, send someone out and resolve the issue. They were so helpful with both the move in and move out process, and Natalie went above and beyond several times with touring other properties to help us find our next home. Whoever owns this is a horrible human. They tow you but without adequate signage. Then you lose your car completely! I get a letter a week later with a bill for more than what the car is even worth! What about that makes sense??? I had to talk to the business owners who even complained about whoever the “old lady” is that does this all the time to people. It’s just sick.

So they had a place for rent and told me that they would not open it to showing until a center date and I asked to be put on their schedule. The time slot I got was 9am and there was one person before me at 8am. I asked how they determined whom would get the apartment because I really wanted it. They told me whomever meets their terms, back ground checks, and had the money. They obliged in giving me the 9am appointment; however, it wasn't concrete in email communication (They had my phone number the whole time/I didn't have theirs). I contact them later in the week to make sure we were scheduled, due that communication with them was not concrete, and they stated yes the date/time was agreed. Great, family-owned company. Nice properties in desirable neighborhoods. I was a tenant when I first moved to Nashville. It was a positive experience all around. I was the first to rent a new property they acquired so we had a few issues here and there. They resolved them quickly and efficiently.

We have had a very positive experience with this company. Natalie has been very kind and accommodating during the process of finding a house to rent with them. We are pleased with them and certainly would recommend them to others.
