Highwood Village

Our three years at Highwood were great. The office staff and maintenance staff were friendly, helpful and very prompt if a problem arose. The condition of the rental was very clean and updated with new flooring, appliances and sliding door. The building was quiet and tenants were cordial, holding the door open and saying hello. We always felt safe there. Parking lot and sidewalk lighting was good. The grounds were kept neat and snow removal was timely. Sidewalks would be cleared in the early morning hours. The pool and community room were clean and available. Laundry rooms were always clean and machines new and efficient. I have nothing negative to comment on!

If I was able to select no stars I would. This was by far the worse place I have ever lived. When we first moved in we did the usual paperwork where you walk through and you mark down any issues with the apartment such as chips in paint, dents in the refrigerator, etc. We let the property manager know we had a black ring around our toilet and we had it inspected by the property maintenance staff. At that time they told us they knew about the water damage and had it fixed and we trusted them. A year later when the maintenance staff did their yearly inspection (lease renewed) they told us there was water damage around our toilet and that we caused the damage. Updated review!! The cost keeps going up! The new owners are trying to turn this place into a high end complex and it’s not …..the starting rent for all units are now about $700 more than they were two years ago. Be prepared for lease renewal increases of well above $300 per month. The hallways and laundry rooms are gross and nothing is clean. They recently put in new carpets in the hallways, but it’s cheap. Prior to new ownership, this complex was affordable and kept up, they would fix broken items and paint the main public areas every few months to keep it fresh. Two bedrooms starting around $1950 for 740 sq feet in old buildings with cheap updates/ painted kitchen cabinets NOT new. If you are a long term resident, they will increase your rent upon renewal by $300-$400 per month and y

If I could put 0 stars I would. Do not work with them! I was going to move in here and had given a $400 deposit which was to towards the security deposit when I moved in. I told them over 2 months before I was supposed to move in that I would not be and would like my $400 security deposit back, she then informed me that it was "application deposit" and therefore non refundable. Nice way to get around the law to protect tenants!

Great place! Parking rules are a little bogus for residents but if you can get over that, this place is pretty peaceful.
