Hickory Hill Apartments

Although I am not a resident here, I have had to visit this community many times over the past few years for work and professional purposes. Unfortunately, not a very clean or well-maintained community. The buildings tend to smell upon entering. Many residents appear to have been complaining about roaches, rodents, and bed bugs for years. Some complain about management being unresponsive to their calls and maintenance issues taking a long time to be addressed. Safety also appears to be a concern. Although the rent here is cheaper than most places (ranging from approx. $975/month for 1 bed/ 1 bath to approx. $1350/month for 3 bed/ 1.5 bath), you apparently get what you pay for. Any issues I encountered in my time here were solved very very quickly. The owner, Brad is extremely nice and cares about his tenants.

I have lived here for almost 2 years. I love it. The apartments are clean, if you keep them clean, and the office staff is amazing. Even maintenance workers are super friendly. If there is a problem then the office sends someone to fix it usually same day or within a few days depending on what it is. There is some noise, but that is to be expected in any type of apartment community. This is an affordable and awesome place to live.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for about ten months before we had to leave due to personal issues (which Brad was very understanding about). The maintenance workers always came within a short amount of time and was able to fix what needed to be fixed. Brad was a great help whenever we had questions. My biggest complaint would be the crime in the area. There were police at the complex at least once a week for something. There were multiple shooting/stabbing incidents that were way too close for us to feel safe at the apartment. This is an issue with Key Parkway overall (and recently Frederick as a whole it seems). This is something Brad doesn't have control over though. The other issues I had were people playing music past midnight and being loud which was annoying but was never reported. A

My daughter moved in here with great expectations. Her new husband's mother bought them almost $3400.00 in brand new furniture and had it shipped to them. Within 2 months they had bed bugs so bad all the furniture had to be thrown out. They also had a severe roach problem. My daughter has OCD and had a brand new baby that she stayed at home with so she was constantly wiping the walls, counters, floors, etc. down with bleach & water mix but it never helped. The pest control came sometimes and management never would be honest about the bugs there. Cheap apartments but almost all Spanish, low income or just dirty people there. DO NOT RENT HERE. My daughter just broke her lease as she could get no response, help or anything from management.
