I recently vacated the E&Y apartment after living there for a year, and I’ve had an extremely troubling experience with the owner, Nick. Despite having paid $1,400 in security and final rent, he returned only $325 to me — withholding the remaining amount under questionable deductions. He charged $100 for “refinishing the door,” even though it had no damage whatsoever. He also claimed $174 for supposed drywall repairs and an outrageous $550 to replace a perfectly functional window. These deductions appear baseless and exploitative, made in the name of “cleaning” and arbitrary maintenance. I’ve formally filed a legal complaint against him for his dishonest practices.
