Doricourt Apartments

I lived here for 12 months, first floor in the very front of the building. The apartments were cute, I LOVED the clawfoot tub, the managers were fine although I did have a huge issue with my fridge they did not tend to, however new management has come in, and overall it was quiet. I'm not sure about the paper thin walls that were mentioned because in my opinion they were concrete thick. I did have an issue with a stolen bike, but that wasn't their fault. Overall this is a very comfortable, chill place to live. It's monthly rent is priced reasonably, so keep your expectations where they should be! Lived here for one year. Pros- cheap(ish) rent, decent location, quiet building, responsive maintenance, bathtub was very nice, got my entire security deposit back. Cons- water takes an insanely long time to heat up if you're on the upper floors, my windows at were incredibly difficult to open and close, windows didn't have screens, building smells like smoke, elevator breaks down pretty often, not enough washers/dryers for the amount of residents, people constantly breaking into the garbage area and making a mess, very few outlets in my apartment, kitchen was so small it was almost unusable, everything is covered in that "landlord special" paint (including painted over bugs). It was okay for a year but I'm glad I moved.

My partner and I shared an apartment here and left at the end our lease. Place was consistently infested with cockroaches, although being “treated” for it. After giving notice of leaving a month and a half before hand to management and not getting any response in return through email, they continued to charge us rent. After a year and a half of no contact, a collections agency started to go for our co-signer for the unpaid rent, and did not contact my partner and I at all for months. After my partner talked to collections agency about the fact that we had given them notice, Doricourt claimed we were lying about the emails, although we have the proof. Renters beware.

Applied for a floor unit and waited for a response only to find out out four days later the unit was rented. I should've stayed away after that but believing in the goodness of people I didn't. Out of desperation I payed the holding fee $500. Which is non refundable. I found out at the lease Signing that I cannot pay the deposit or move in costs online so I missed work to find out I wasn't going to move in. These people don't care. I called corporate to complain but they don't answer.

Worst place ever! Live here if you want to get lung cancer! Heavy smokers here! There is a constant smoking in this place. Whenever you open the window, the smoke get in. Even if you don't open the window, the smoke also can get to your room because the walls are paper thin! I'm not sure why do the owner of this place even hired a manager because the manager is rarely come to her office! The manager doesn't care about this community at all. She never reply email or phone call. This place has no security camera so it's not safe to live here!
