Cortland Bull City

We’re currently residents now and love it here. The office and maintenance staff have both been incredible. We’ve had a couple minor issues in our apartment that the maintenance team was able to fix within minutes of putting in a work order. Top notch service in every aspect since we’ve moved here, very friendly folks and has been a pleasure getting to know them.

Amazing property that I’ve been truly blessed to call home for 2+ years. Every single member of the Cortland Bull City team goes above and beyond for their tenants and actually treat me more like family vs my rent collection as a mere corporate transaction. I can’t recommend this property and the company that owns it enough!

I lived at Cortland for 11 months and would recommend it to professionals, grad students (if budget allows), or anyone wanting a premium renting experience without paying extra for unnecessary amenities. Cortland does the basics well, and I felt I was getting good value for downtown Durham. I have moved out at the end of my lease, but wouldn't have minded renewing. Pros: (1) Office and maintenance staff were great—professional, responsive, and available on Saturdays. (2) Tours and leasing hours (open until 6 p.m. on weekdays) were very convenient for a 9–5 professional. (3) Package setup with Luxer One was much better than services like Fetch. I have NEVER lived in this community and just got a letter saying that I owe this property money. You have 1 business day to fix this issue or I will be taking legal action. Do not live at this place they are scammers and take your personal information to try to get money from you.

TLDR; do not rent an apartment in this building unless you don’t mind negligence. My partner and I lived at Cortland for nearly 3 years. This place has some pros including the great people in the office and the people who live in the building but otherwise it falls very short. Even with living there for 2 and 1/2 years, when our apartment flooded on a week night last month, Cortland provided no assistance at the time of the event. It took several attempts to get anyone to pay attention to the issue and once we finally spoke with the head of maintenance, they told us our apartment flooded due to a crack in the foundation. They said they could not provide an estimate on when it could be fixed but since there was continuous rain on the weather radar, we were forced to move out. Although we g
