Colorado Mountain Estates POA

I called them to ask what might be allowed if I were to purchase property in that subdivision. I am a builder and asked about things even Boulder would allow and they said no or that it would be randomly determined by four people. So four people, who benefit from the fines and foreclosures, get to randomly determine if you are fined or foreclosed? Needless to say I won't be giving them my money. I feel sorry for any landowners there.

Beautiful mountain community with POA that has been in place since the 1970s. As one drives through the sub-division they will notice how well kept the individual unique properties are which are in part due to the fact that this is a covenanted community with policies that have been in place since inception which make this a desirable place to live and maintain property values. The POA is comprised of volunteers who give their time for the benefit of the community. Only suspected violations reported by members are investigated, no policing of the neighborhood by the Board is done to identify violations. If purchasing property within CME through a title company, each new property owner is required to sign-off that they have read the policies. It is those who do not follow the policies

Terrible POA. Pick and choose who they wish to hassle by the week. They, the CMEPOA drive our property values down by 18-20%. Buyers beware. They have lied to us on multiple occasions. They refuse to hear any point of view but their own. If you dare to speak out against them they will retaliate. Fortunately we have over 740 property owners that want to dissolve this oppressive gang. More sign on weekly.

Started out at $11 in '97 to 26.50 or so now per lot. They are taking in double what they need now, allowing a lot of what used to be violations. Used to be a place where the lake was stocked, then illegals came and bait fished it out. Then a fee for membership to fish, then drought. It was a place for wildlife to roam freely about without worry about dogs and cats killing them off, which they have done. Too big a growth rate allowed, too many eyesores, trashers, trailer trash, and very little green housing to go with the mountain sunny location. Definitely not enough water for all the lots and many are too steep, or in drainages. Too many cats loose and big dogs when it is supposed to be pets that only stay in the house. Make sure you're well aware this is a very strict HOA, you can't even have chickens.
