As far as large property management companies go, Cavalier Land was great. I haven't had a bad experience with the people at the leasing office. Toni was fair and responsive when I needed help or understanding of my situation when my lease was ending and I was in the middle of a job hunt. I only met Marc when I was moving out. But he always seemed nice. He was very upfront with the process of getting my security deposit back and also very understanding. I've rented from many property management companies and have always left the apartment very clean. I have never gotten a security deposit back until Cavalier Land. I lived at 1245 Westover Ave for 4 years and have no problems with anyone. The last two months I was there a new neighbor above me moved in and was making constant unnecessary noises for several hours at a time. I made several complaints and the landlords nothing. After the third one email complaint the landlord’s suggestion was for me to move out of my apartment. He straight up told me “I don’t want you living here anymore”

I have rented from cavalier land for a few years. I am currently trying to find a place when my lease is up. I knew my apartment was old with no modern conveniences when I rented it. We have 2 washers and dryers for several buildings but in the last few years they are broken at least 50% of the time or more because it is long stretches of time. They are broken now however cavalier always will claim they work and blames the problems with these old broken machines that steal our money on the residents every single time. We rented from Cavalier Land starting in October 2013. Toni was very easy to deal with and helped us find the best apartment for us. We never had problems getting maintenance issues fixed, and the workers were always very polite and helpful. Our building (Stuart Hall) was pest free. We could hear the neighbor's TV sometimes, but that's what you expect in old buildings - thin walls. The rent was very reasonable. We unfortunately had to move out within 6 months of signing a 1-year lease because we had to move for work, and Toni was very helpful and understanding. We moved out, advertised and showed the apartment on Craigslist, and after it was rented we received our FULL deposit back. Fantastic service.

Overall we've been very happy with Cavalier Land. We were in an older apartment, so of course there were some maintenance issues that came up during our three years here, but the maintenance team fixed everything for us in a timely manner. Our refrigerator stopped keeping things cold, and Cavalier Land replaced it with a new one. When our kitchen faucet started leaking, they replaced the faucet with a new one. The grounds were well maintained, and we didn't have any issues with noise. If you don't like older apartments this might not be for you, but if you like living in Ghent and enjoy the charm of older buildings, you can't really do better.
