The photos of Avon Place complex are quite misleading. The pool is always closed by the health department and appears green, the ceilings are collapsing, and there is black mold in many of the apartments that they just spray over with paint. Potholes look like a minefield. They don’t care if your tires or front end of your car get destroyed. The owners, “Empire Realty," really did a number on this place. They never cared about the tenants' concerns. Empire bought a $1.5 million property in New Haven, but since they set up this apartment complex as an LLC, they are protected. The apartment complex itself has not closed, but it is now operating under the name “Avon 46.” Since the change in ownership, the property appears to have limited online presence, which makes it difficult for residents to share feedback publicly. Some maintenance issues have been addressed, but new challenges have arisen. A significant portion of the building is currently under renovation, and residents are living alongside ongoing construction. In many cases, apartments are being reconfigured, and this has resulted in prolonged noise during the day. Since the renovations began, some residents—including myself—have experienced issues that were not previously present, such as pest activity. This is the worst, poorly maintained, unsafe complex that I have ever lived in. We did not have hot water for 5 days, water is shut off every month for emergencies, one of our external doors was open and broken for anyone to walk in the building for 30 days (even though there’s been a string of reported thefts), there’s visible mold in the hallways, and the apartment management always responds to reviews saying to contact the office, but I have, and many residents have, and there are never any changes. A few residents have contacted the health department about some of the issues, and there are still no changes. Please look at these pictures and choose a different place to live.
