Ashton Sherman Village Apartments

I wanted to write this review specifically for a staff member, Aaron Trujillo. He has been the most reliable contact person at this complex. While multiple managers have changed, he has remained consistent and truly puts in the effort to resolve residents’ issues. Every time I’ve spoken with him, I’ve felt confident that he would follow up and continue communicating until the issue was resolved. I’m glad he’s part of the management team because he genuinely cares.

UPDATE: 1 week later finally pest problem was resolved but only because of this review. Now it’s been a month and a half since I first submitted the request for the missing smart home hub, and it still hasn’t been resolved. They promised to take care of it quickly and send someone out, but in reality, nothing happens — they just stop responding again and ignore messages in the app. Worst communication ever. My previous landlord was AvalonBay (Ava Studio City) and it’s like night and day compared to Essex: they were quick and efficient. I regret moving back to this apartment complex after having lived here over six years ago. I assumed it would still be a decent place to live, but that has not been the case. At first, you might not understand why so many residents are constantly complaining about management—until you actually need something from them. Then, it becomes clear. Simple requests are ignored for months unless you call repeatedly just to get basic issues addressed. For example, there’s been a large water leak outside the building since I moved in (back in May). Despite multiple complaints, nothing has been done to fix it. It’s a waste of resources, and ultimately, the residents are the ones paying for it. Trying to post a new review since the last one was being censored. There was a murder at this building in April 2025, and the management is responsible for allowing the vagrant to access this building because of their ongoing negligence and lack of pro-active measurements to ensure the safety of this community. This property is a frequent target for break-ins and vagrants/criminals casing the building, gaining easy access into the building and testing apartments to see who is home or not, even so far as living on the damn roof. Residents were reporting foot steps on the top floor of this building for weeks with no response or effort made to mitigate it. New neighbors are running and bouncing a ball above my head ALL day and they won’t help me resolve the matter or switch units. We’ve sent 4 emails since 9/4, and no solution, just continuously getting ignored. Mind you- management sits in the office all day with the door closed and the lights off, but they’ll tell you “no one’s on site” to address any issues whatsoever. Management is cheap and cut the budget for security, even though the murder only happened a few months ago. Security told me they see activity before their shift starts but management won’t let them work more hours despite them advocating for the need to protect the residents.
