Ashton Bellevue

I have lived here since 2019. I previously wrote a review a few years ago when the property had different management during COVID. During that period - THE FULL SUMMER - the whole building went without A/C - despite that being a HUGE selling point to this building (as most apartment buildings in this area don’t have it). That was years ago though. Since then the staff has changed many times. For years they had a GREAT maintenance team, Rick is still essential and truly the best part of this building. Steve the former maintenance manager is greatly missed though. This building has gone totally downhill since he left. I lived at the Ashton from 2014 up until recently. It has well apointed, spacious upscale accommodation. But in recent years the UDR management and the staff at Ashton made it a much less than the luxury residential community that it was. When I moved there in 2014, the place said 'luxury living'. I left becuse it now says, 'sub-par living, disguised as luxury living while charging sky-high rents'. Over the last several years, the concierge service went away, the managment shrunk down, the staff was reduced and it resulted in becomeing what I have just decribed above. Recently, they also introduced short-term rentals and Air B&B. If you are in town for a few days, it is a great place. But for long-term, look elsewhere.

Absolutely terrible experience! Avoid this place at all costs. This apartment is a textbook example of mismanagement. Everything feels sloppy and careless, from the staff to the leadership. But the real nightmare comes when you move out. That’s when they weaponize the fine print and try to squeeze every last dollar from you. Expect hidden charges that make zero sense — they’ll assume you don’t know math, accounting, or even basic industry standards, insulting your level of intelligence. If you don’t push back hard, you’ll end up footing bills that are nothing short of fraudulent. The team is cold, indifferent, and blatantly profit-driven. Ownership and management for Ashton and Ten20 represents all that is wrong with corporate ownership. UDR, is predatory and would charge you for using the elevators if they could. Nothing about these properties represents luxury, common spaces are worn and doesn't resemble the cost of rent at these apartments. Finally, both buildings have plumbing design flaws with water leaks common. For this, make sure your dwelling insurance is current and bring an umbrella.

The maintenance team is excellent. Knowledgeable, responsive, and courteous. In addition, they are extremely communicative. We have lived here 11 years and Latif and Rick are the best.
